Build Review
The Dune Buggy Trailer ships in two bags with two instruction manuals. The blue utility vehicle is the first item you build, and if you’re a frequent builder, you’ll enjoy some of the cleverness displayed by the designers as they made this truck more rugged than your average LEGO sedan.

The trailer and dune buggy are quick builds. They get most of their detail from stickers; notice the cross-hatch pattern on the ramps of the trailer in the photo below.

Kit Ratings
** Playability: 4 out of 5 bricks. This set delivers a lot of playability in just 222 pieces. The three vehicles are sturdy and really look like what they’re meant to be. They make great additions to any sets you already have from this theme, which is why we rate this set above average in the playability category.

** Minifigures: 2 out of 5 bricks. The minifigures in this set are not its strong point. The minifig per bricks ratio is 1:111, which is a little worse than the average for all City themes. Also, neither minifig has printing on its legs, and the male minifigure is available in at least three sets at the time of writing. The torso of the female minifigure, on the other hand, is unique to this set. In summary, the rating for this category falls a little short of our expectations.

Female minifig torso is unique to the set, and she's immune to helmet hair.

Female minifig’s torso is unique to the set, and she’s immune to helmet hair.

** Brick Value: 3 out of 5 bricks. This set has a favorable price per brick of $0.11, but there aren’t really any “special” elements that you’ll thrill to add to your creative building bin. We end up with an average rating of 3 for this category.

** Overall Rating: 9 out of 15 bricks. The dune buggy trailer is a fun addition to the City theme, a set whose playability offsets its slightly disappointing minifigures. The affordable retail price ($24.99 in our market) makes it a compelling way to add some interesting vehicles to your collection, and if you’re starting to wonder how long winter will last, you may enjoy daydreaming about sunshine and sand dunes while you build this one.
