One of the more enjoyable aspects of LEGO Fandom is sharing your enthusiasm with like-minded people, and we highly recommend attending local events as a great way to meet fellow Brick Fans and to see some really imaginative original creations. This weekend Team Brick Radar joined 200+ participants in the 9th Annual Silver Springs LEGO Building Competition. As you can see from the photos, the event was extremely popular.
Each competitor was allowed to enter up to three items in the show. Competitors were broken into appropriate age groups, and each item was assigned to one of four categories. Judges selected first, second, and third place winners for each category and age group. Here’s a sampling of some of our favorite builds from the kids’ categories.
Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOLs) were well represented. Their creations were judged by the public, who voted for their favorite display. Here are a few of the AFOL creations.
Eric McCallum won the People’s Choice Award for his amazing brick sculpture of Mickey Mouse. You’ll see more of Eric’s work here on Brick Radar in the near future.
With the booming popularity of LEGO, you should be able to find an event in your area. How do you find out? Ask the helpful sales personnel at your local LEGO store, or simply type “LEGO competition <insert your city name here>” into your favorite internet search engine.
